There is no biblical principle. They just don't want people talking among them selves and questioning things. The same reason they stopped the Book Study nights.

beccaskids, Welcome! I was also raised from birth in the JW cult. It takes a long time to unravel. I'm still working on it. This board has been the biggest help to me. All the books that have been mentioned are helpful also. Keep reading and posting.

My sistersÂ’ funeral service was just appalling. An absolute disgrace.
by still wondering inmy sisters' funeral service was just appalling.
an absolute disgrace.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/medical/216561/1/my-sister-died-this-morning-after-refusing-blood-on-four-occasions.
the funeral was held today for my sister when every opportunity was used as a sales pitch to promote their malignant message, in this case to any non jw's that may be present, just like any other pyramid scam it seems.. the person whose funeral it is just has a minor bit part to play compared to the main feature , the promotion of the all encompassing multi-talented multi-tentacled wts that you can rely on to guide misguide and pervade every nook and cranny of your life including when to die.. and why not, because as gods only prophet to all mankind, they don't just hear gods voice, they are gods voice.. ***watchtower 1957 june 15 p.370*** "it is vital that we respond to the directions of the "slave" as we would to the voice of god.

I'm very sorry for the loss of your sister. You have my sincere condolences. I completely understand your anger about the JW funeral. I do not go to them for that reason. It's also too stressful for me.

Is there a reason to remain a JW other than for family?
by cedars inthis strikes me as an important question.
in my short time on this forum it strikes me that many contributors are quite open about keeping a foot in both camps.
some are apparently even elders, serving in positions of authority within their respective congregations.

Is there justifiable cause to pretend to be a Jehovah's Witness when you know the organisation to be a scam OTHER than to keep your family members happy, or to remain in touch with them?
I know I'm a hard liner but in my opinion, NO. There is no justifiable cause not even family. Do you want to live your life as a complete lie?
If someone chooses to remain a witness for the sake of family, is it right that they should hold on to positions of authority within the organisation, thereby furthering the interests of the society?
Absolutely not! It's reprehensible. Stand up. Be an adult. Live your life honestly and with conviction.
I left the religion when I was 15. I realize the point that I left was before I was married and had children. Thank God!!!! That would certainly have complicated things. My parents did not disown me. I think they wanted to get out themselves but were staying in for "family reasons". I have no respect for their decision even now. My parents are now deceased. I do not have any contact with the JW part of the family anymore. Too bad. No regrets. I consider them a weight trying to drag me down and drown me.
